Why this blog? Why now? The economy is tanking. Companies are casting off employees out of fear and without shame. Politicians play partisan games while Rome burns. How can there be any cause for optimism?
Fact is, the world continues to get better every day. Every moment, new discoveries are being made that can change the world for the better. New theories are being tested. New statistics are released measuring humanity’s forward progress. New hope is attained.
Of course, browsing the traditional and non-traditional media wouldn’t give you much cause for hope or optimism. They trade in the negative. Crisis sells newspapers. Controversy attracts blog viewership. The more negative the message, the more likely they’ll attract the attention they crave, the dollars they worship, and the hopelessness they feed on.
A Cause For Optimism is one man’s “YAWP” against the hurricane of bad news. A tiny oasis in a gulf of disaster. A place to nurture that germ of hope that dares to survive.
